Motivational Speaker Reflection: 2023 IM.POSSIBLE School Tour with Eddie Cortes

14,000! As I reflect on the year, looking back on my journey as a motivational speaker, it’s mind-blowing to think about the 14,000 students touched by the IM.POSSIBLE message in 2023.

IM.POSSIBLE School Tour: Impactful Stories

Since August, I’ve been on the IM.POSSIBLE School Assembly Tour, partnering with 36 schools across 14 states, and standing in front of 78 assemblies. But let’s not get bogged down by the numbers; it’s about the stories, the inspiration, and the undeniable spark in each student’s eye. Here are a few of my favorites.

Jacob’s Belief

Fred Wild Elementary in Sebring, FL was a wild ride of dreams (no pun intended 😊). Picture this: I kick off with my baseball dream, and suddenly the cafeteria room of 350 students transforms into a mini stadium. The energy is contagious, and the message is crystal clear – go after your dreams relentlessly, even the wild ones, and never back down.

But here’s the twist – I confess to the students that I once gave up on my dream. Gasps fill the room; it hits home because discouragement stings. We connect over shared struggles, creating an unspoken pact of understanding.

Straight from the heart, I delve into the feeling of not being ‘enough.’ Heads nod, eyes light up – they get it. Then I remind them that they are more than enough, totally worthy of those big dreams, equipped with all they need to chase them.

And then, Jacob, this fourth-grade legend, steps up and drops a bombshell. After the school assembly, he hits me with a dose of belief – “I believe in you.” Jacob’s belief wasn’t just a moment; it’s the beacon of courage that guides my journey as a motivational speaker.

Christopher’s Heartfelt Connection

Now, let’s jump to Colinas Del Norte Elementary in Rio Rancho, NM. A teacher approaches me, pointing out Christopher, a student who recently lost his mother and could use some encouragement. An opportunity to make a difference unfolds.

During the presentation, I invite Christopher to join me in a baseball skit. His eyes light up with excitement, and a beaming smile crosses his face. After the skit, I hand him a copy of my book and thank him for helping me share my dream. At the end of the assembly, he approaches me, eyes shining with gratitude, hugs me, and asks for my autograph. A touching moment reminding me of the impact we can have on elementary students without ever saying a word.

A Student’s YouTube Dream

At Sterling Junior High School in East Wenatchee, WA, resilience and doing the impossible take center stage. After the presentation, I chat with students, and their enthusiasm is infectious. One student’s story touches my heart – she dreams of starting a YouTube channel, but her peers tell her she doesn’t have the personality or talent. Ready to give up, she has an epiphany after the school assembly, realizing that her potential is far greater than her limitations. She decides to believe in herself and go for it.

This, my friends, is my why as a motivational speaker – knowing that my words inspired this student to chase her im.possible dream, leaving me with a heart full of joy and purpose.

About Motivational Speaker Eddie Cortes

With over 20 years of experience, I’m touted as one of the most engaging elementary and middle school assembly speaker in the youth market. My mission is simple: empower students to build resilience and a positive self-worth.

This mission is personal. As a middle schooler, I stopped believing in myself. My negative self-view impacted my grades, relationships, choices, and ultimately my dream play professional baseball.

This experience fuels my mission. I want every elementary and middle school student to know that they are worthy of their dreams and have the tools to chase them.

About the IM.POSSIBLE Message

IM.POSSIBLE isn’t just a school assembly program; it’s a transformative experience. In this presentation, students realize that their potential (what they can be) is far greater than their limitations (what they can’t do). By developing resilience, students are more likely to have a positive self-worth, overcome failure, and achieve better academic results.

Students will learn to:

  • Bounce Back from Adversity: Determination dictates your destination in life.
  • Do Hard Things: Face failure and maintain an “I can. I will.” mindset.
  • Leverage Mentors: Mentors help you do hard things and go further faster.
  • Nurture a Positive Self-Worth: You are worthy of your dreams.
  • Reimagine the Impossible: Turn it into the IM.POSSIBLE.
